Philip’s photography is mainly centred around people; a social documentary of the things we do, the places we live and the way we look. Exploring a contemporary slice of life for an imagined audience 100 years from now, who will see our present as their past. Inspired and influenced by many photographers, Philip feels his approach is best summarised by Elliott Erwitt’s view that “You can find pictures anywhere. It’s simply a matter of noticing things and organizing them. You just have to care about what’s around you and have a concern with humanity and the human comedy”.
Philip has exhibited solely and jointly and been published in books, journals, and magazines. Philip holds a medal from the London Salon (2004) and was a shortlisted photographer in the Sony World Photography Awards (2016). As a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society he is a member of the Awards Assessment Panel and Thames Valley Region Co-ordinator for the Documentary Group. Philip is a member of the f8 documentary magazine team f8 Documentary (@f8documentary) • Instagram photos and videos. Philip leads workshops and teaches photography to adult learners at Abingdon & Witney College.
